A pearl of enormous value, weighs over 11 kg, has been recently submitted to the GCI Laboratory. The pearl is white in baroque shape; it is approximately 29.00 x 16.00 x 14.70 centimeters in size and weighs 11,380 grams. Advanced optical tests were performed using special aids (due to its odd size). It was found that the pearl is a natural blister pearl that grows in salt water. It was formed in a giant clam - Tridacna gigas, and came from the Philippines islands in the Pacific Ocean. The pearl is not drilled, it was removed from the giant shell and the shape, the surface, and the lustre have been modified and polished. Giant pearls of this size are extremely rare and are mostly found in museums and private collections. The Pearl will be auctioned at one of the major auction houses at a starting price of $1,000,000.
