HPHT Treated Diamonds

GCI Gemological Centers escorts diamond manufactures during preparation for HPHT color treatment process.
The package of thirteen rough diamonds was purchased by our client from a new source.
Five rough diamonds were recognised as unsuitable for HPHT treatment.
Eight stones were identified as Type IIa diamonds and were prepared to HPHT process.
All the diamonds were polished to 8 cut and all internal inclusions were reduced.
Instead of 10 days as usual, this time it took seven extra days to get the stones back to Israel.
The reason for the delay was that the color of four treated diamonds became pink after the HPHT process.
It is  a rather rare phenomenon, when Type IIa diamonds change color from brownish tints to pink.
In this case, 50% of treated diamonds became pink. White stones were graded G, H and K color.
Pink stones were graded as Fancy Pink and Fancy Vivid Pink colors. Most of the stones had internal graining
as a result of the HPHT process.
